Create filter profile

You can create profiles that you can use to restrict the elements in a package to those you want.

Below is an example of how to create the specified profile and how it is used. Of course, individual steps in this description are omitted if you have already completed them as part of other activities, e. g., generating the UML metamodel in the current database. This means that the Symbols bar contains only the design class, the symbol for Property, the association Association, and the symbols that always belong to the class (Part symbol) and association (Owning class symbol).

The description assumes that you generate the UML metamodel in the original language as recommended. This generates the names in English.

Procedure. Procedure

    1. In the Explorer tree, right-click the name of the relevant database and select Log in with options. The Login Wizard opens.

    2. Click in the Filter box on the down arrow and select the relevant method filter.

    3. Click the down arrow to get to the Language box, and select the relevant database language.

    4. Click Finish.

    1. Open the Explorer tab and activate the Explorer tree.

    2. Create a new group in the relevant database and save.

    3. Right-click the group and select Generate UML metamodels. The Generate UML metamodels dialog opens.

    4. Specify which language you want to use for the metamodel elements by enabling the relevant option.

    5. Click OK.

    1. In the Explorer tree, right-click the group in which you want to create a new group.

    2. Click New model element > Create group Group.

    3. Enter a name.

    4. Press Enter.

    1. Right-click the group in the Explorer tree.

    2. Click New model element.

    3. Click Profile. The UML top-level element is created and its name is selected for overwriting.

    4. Enter a name.

    5. Press Enter.

    1. In the Explorer tree, right-click the required profile.

    2. Click New diagram > Diagram Profile diagram. The profile diagram is created and the name is selected for overwriting.

    3. Enter a name.

    4. Press Enter. The profile diagram is created and opens.

    1. Click the required element in the Explorer tree and hold down the mouse button.

    2. Drag the mouse pointer to the position in the diagram at which you want to place the element.

    3. Release the mouse button. A presentation of the element is created in the diagram.

    1. Place the Class object from the Symbols bar in the diagram window. If the bar does not include the object, insert it in the bar.

    2. Enter asso as the name and click Browse Find objects in the database. The Select object dialog opens.

    3. Click Start search. As the search result, you will see the Association object with the Metaclass type, which you created by creating the UML metamodel.

    4. Select the object Association.

    5. Click OK. The placed class is replaced with the metaclass.

    6. Draw the Meta class reference edge from the Filter profile profile to the Association object.

    1. Place the Class object from the Symbols bar in the diagram window. If the bar does not include the object, insert it in the bar.

    2. Enter prop as the name and click Browse Find objects in the database. The Select object dialog opens.

    3. Click Start search. As the search result, you will see the Property object with the Metaclass type, which you created by creating the UML metamodel.

    4. Select the object Property.

    5. Click OK. The placed class is replaced with the metaclass.

    6. Draw the Meta class reference edge from the Filter profile profile to the Property object.

    1. Place the Component object from the Symbols bar in the diagram window. If If the bar does not include the object, insert it in the bar.

    2. Enter cla as the name and click Browse Find objects in the database. The Select object dialog opens.

    3. Click Start search. As the search result, you will see the Class diagram object with the MetaDiagram type, which you created by creating the UML metamodel.

    4. Select the Class diagram object.

    5. Click OK. The placed component is replaced with the meta diagram.

    6. Draw the Meta class reference edge from the Filter profile profile to the Class diagram object.

    1. Click the Stereotype object in the Symbols bar. If the bar does not include the object, insert it in the bar.

    2. Drag the mouse pointer to the diagram window and click the point at which you want to place the object. The object is placed and the name is selected for overwriting.

    3. Enter a name.

    4. Press Enter.

    1. Place the Class object from the Symbols bar in the diagram window. If the bar does not include the object, insert it in the bar.

    2. Click Browse Find objects in the database. The Select object dialog opens.

    3. Click Start search. As the search result, you will see the Class object with the Metaclass type, which you created by creating the UML metamodel.

    4. Select the Class object.

    5. Click OK. The placed class is replaced with the metaclass.

    6. Draw the Extension edge from the Design class stereotype to the Class object.

    1. In the Explorer tree, right-click the group in which you want to create a new group.

    2. Click New model element > Create group Group.

    3. Enter a name.

    4. Press Enter.

    1. Right-click the group in the Explorer tree.

    2. Click New model element.

    3. Click Model. The UML top-level element is created and its name is selected for overwriting.

    4. Enter a name.

    5. Press Enter.

    1. Right-click the top-level element Filtered model > Properties in the Explorer tree.

    2. Click Applied profiles on the Selection tab.

    3. Click the Apply Apply profiles button. The Apply profiles dialog opens.

    4. Enable the check box for the Filter profile profile you have created.

    5. Click OK. The dialog closes and the profile is applied.

    6. Click OK. The Properties dialog closes.

    1. Right-click the top-level element in the Explorer tree.

    2. Click New diagram > Class diagram. The class diagram is created and the name is selected for overwriting.

    3. Enter a name.

    4. Press Enter. The class diagram opens.
