Configure display of nestings

You can specify in advance how the relationships between nested nodes and the container element are to be handled when a nested node is removed from a container in the diagram.

Procedure. Procedure
  1. Click ARIS > Options and select Designer > General on the Selection tab.

  2. Use the Remove node presentations from container box to specify how the nesting relationship is to be handled when the nested node is moved from the container to the diagram area:

Delete nesting relationship: Deletes the relationship between the node and the container.

Show nesting relationship: Shows the relationship between the node and the container as an edge.

Keep but do not show nesting relationship: Removes only the presentation of the relationship while the relationship between the node and the container continues to exist.

  3. Specify whether you want to use a dialog in order to decide how to handle the nesting edge each time a nested node is moved from the container to the diagram area ( Show dialog when node presentations are removed from the container check box is enabled), or not (the check box is disabled).

  4. Specify whether you want the edge of a node to be removed when the node is moved to a container element (Remove nesting edges when node presentations are added to the container check box is enabled), or not (the check box is disabled).

  5. Specify whether you want to use a dialog in order to decide whether the nesting edge is to be shown each time a node is moved to a container element (check box Show dialog when node presentations are added to the container is enabled), or not (the check box is disabled).

  6. Click OK.

Configuring the display for the nesting of nodes in container elements and their removal from container elements is complete.
