Import XMI file

You can import UML-relevant content from an XMI file of XMI version 2.1 in order to use data from external systems.

Procedure. Procedure
  1. Click ARIS > Explorer. The Explorer tab opens.

  2. Log in to the database into which you want to import data.

  3. Right-click the folder into which you want to import the XMI data and select Import > XMI file. The XMI import dialog opens.

  4. In the XMI file box enter the path and name under which the file you want to import is stored.

  5. If the XMI file is available in a format other than XMI of version 2.1.: In the Stylesheet box, select the transformation stylesheet to prepare the data for the import by converting them as required. This ensures that the XMI data is transformed into a format that ARIS UML Designer can process.

If the XMI file is available in XMI 2.1 format, using a stylesheet is not required.

  6. Click OK.

The XMI data is converted into UML content so that you can use it in ARIS UML Designer.
