Create edge

You can create edges between two diagram elements and the program supports you in this with selections and icons.

If a connection cannot be used to link two items according to the method, a prohibitory sign will be displayed at the target object. If you draw a connection from a source to a target item, but the method only allows a connection from the target to the source item, the permitted connection will be created.

Procedure. Procedure
  1. Click the element you want to connect with another element. The mini toolbar is shown.

  2. Move the mouse pointer to the mini toolbar and click Connection Connection. The mini toolbar is hidden and a dashed line is shown as a preview of the edge as soon as the mouse pointer is moved away from the element.

  3. Move the mouse pointer to the anchor point of the target element and click the anchor point. If several connections between the source object and target object are possible, these connections are offered for selection.

  4. Enable the option button of the connection that you want to create. If you want to use the enabled connection, click in the diagram background.

The new edge is created.

  1. Click Symbols Symbols on the button bar if the bar is not activated yet.

  2. Click Connection Connection in the Symbols bar. The button will be framed.

  3. Click in the middle of the source item.

  4. Click in the middle of the target item. If several connections between the source object and target object are possible, these connections are offered for selection.

  5. Enable the option button of the connection that you want to create. If you want to use the enabled connection, click in the diagram background.

The connection is created at the center of the border of the items.

  1. Turn Connection mode connection mode on if it is not already on.

  2. Move the mouse pointer to the source item. When the mouse pointer is positioned on the border of the item, anchor points for the connection will be displayed. The mouse pointer icon informs you that the connection can be attached to the source item.

  3. Select the anchor point you want by moving the mouse pointer along the border of the item. The possible anchor points will be indicated by squares.

  4. Click the square that occupies the position of the relevant anchor point.

  5. Drag the mouse pointer to the target item. The possible alignment of the connection will be shown by a line. You can also define an individual connection alignment.

  6. Click the relevant anchor point of the target item. If several connections between the source object and target object are possible, these connections are offered for selection.

  7. Enable the option button of the connection that you want to create. If you want to use the enabled connection, click in the diagram background.

The connection is created.
