Use the Symbols bar

The Symbols bar provides you with the node and edge symbols you need to create your diagrams. You can configure the content of the Symbols bar. The content is dependent on the method filter you use. However, you can also restrict or extend the number of object and edge symbols it contains.

Connection: Allows you to create an edge quickly. You only have to click in the middle of the source and target object to link objects by creating edges. The alignment of the edge between the objects will be optimized.

Create presentations of additional symbols: Opens the Create presentation dialog for you to create presentations of symbols that the Symbols bar does not provide.

Add symbols: Opens the Customize 'Symbols' bar dialog for you to specify which node and edge symbols you want the Symbols bar to provide.

This change affects all diagrams of the current type.

Favorite symbols: Lists the node and edge symbols that you have selected as your preferred symbols.

Diagram types

Shows a list of the node and edge symbols that can be used in the current diagram. The node and edge symbols selected for display are provided below the name of the diagram type to which they belong. If all symbols of a diagram are hidden, the diagram name used for categorization is also removed.

You can place required node and edge symbols of various diagram types in the Favorite symbols area independently of the diagram.

Diagram-specific symbols

If you remove node or edge symbols used in the diagram, these symbols are placed under Diagram-specific symbols. You can use these symbols to place additional node or edge symbols.

Symbols that are placed below the separator bar are automatically removed when the last element using this symbol is deleted from the diagram area.

The affected node and edge symbols are provided by the Symbols bar for this diagram only. When you create a new diagram of this type, the node and edge symbols are no longer contained in the Symbols bar. If you want to reuse removed node and edge symbols in a new diagram, you must add them first.
