How are identical UML elements identified during the merge procedure?

In ARIS, UML elements are saved as groups having the character of objects. They are saved as groups due to the fact that they can contain diagrams and UML elements. At the same time they can be considered as objects because they have an object type and can have presentations in diagrams.

During the merge procedure the UML elements are identified in the target database by means of their GUID. Due to the In the event of a conflict, always select group containing source option being enabled for the merge, UML elements that were, for example, moved to another package in the source database while still being located in the original package in the target database can nevertheless be identified in the target database.
